Amy Smith is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and graduated with a Master of Speech Pathology from La Trobe University. She has experience working with primary and secondary school children presenting with various language difficulties and communication needs. She has particular experience working with children with complex communication needs including children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual disability, Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome.
Amy has developed a passion for augmentative and alternative communication and has used a variety of communication systems to help children successfully reach their communication goals. She enjoys tailoring therapy to include a child’s special interests and is dedicated to working collaboratively with families to help children reach their full potential.
Amy is committed to her professional development and has completed training in the following programs: basic Key Word Sign, Little Learners Love Literacy program, Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) communication system and the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). She is also certified in the Hanen program More Than Words.
